Lions acquire Za'Darius Smith from Browns in trade deal

The Detroit Lions have reached an agreement with the Cleveland Browns to acquire defensive lineman Za'Darius Smith. The trade also includes a 2026 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round selection and a 2026 sixth-round draft choice. Specific details of the trade were not disclosed.

Za'Darius Smith, now in his tenth NFL season, has recorded 23 tackles, including 15 solo tackles, five sacks, and six tackles for loss this year. He played nine games for the Browns before joining the Lions.

Smith is a three-time Pro Bowl player (2019, 2020, 2022) who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft from Kentucky. Throughout his career, he has participated in 117 games with 74 starts and achieved a total of 321 tackles (213 solo), along with other notable statistics such as 65 sacks and ten forced fumbles.
