Today, Detroit City Football Club announced the departure of Maxi Rodriguez, who will be joining Rhode Island FC after his contract with Detroit expired. The club expressed gratitude for Rodriguez's contributions since he joined in 2021.

Rodriguez made his debut on April 13, 2021, in a match against Cal United Strikers and played his first home game at Keyworth Stadium on May 1. He scored his first goal during a win over Cal United Strikers and ended the season with eight goals and two assists.

In 2022, Rodriguez became a key player for Detroit during their first USL Championship season. He led the team with 12 goals across all competitions and was instrumental in their historic victory over Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew.

After extending his contract through 2024, Rodriguez continued to perform well. In 2023, he achieved 'City Centurion' status by making his 100th appearance for the club. By the end of 2024, he was Detroit's joint-top scorer with ten goals and earned a spot on the USL Championship’s All-League First Team.

Over four seasons, Rodriguez appeared in 142 matches for Detroit City FC, scoring 36 goals and providing 15 assists.

The club plans to announce further roster changes soon.
