Pavel Datsyuk was honored at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night with a ceremonial puck drop and tribute video, celebrating his recent induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Detroit Red Wings added to the celebratory atmosphere by securing a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

Lucas Raymond scored the decisive goal with just 52 seconds left in the game. "I think we played a really good game tonight," Raymond stated. He acknowledged Alex Lyon's performance, who made 22 saves for Detroit, contributing significantly to their first third-period comeback win of the season.

The Islanders' Simon Holmstrom initially put his team ahead early in the first period by tipping in Scott Mayfield's shot. Despite this setback, Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde noted that his team "hung in there" and continued to battle throughout the game.

Detroit struggled with its power play opportunities but maintained a shot advantage through two periods. Jonatan Berggren eventually tied the game at 15:14 of the third period, assisted by J.T. Compher during a 2-on-1 rush.

Raymond praised Berggren's performance: "Just his entire game, it’s really fun to see." Minutes later, Raymond capitalized on an assist from Dylan Larkin to score the winning goal.

Reflecting on their strategy, Lalonde commented on their overall performance: “I thought we were good throughout.” He also credited Berggren's crucial goal against a formidable opposing goalie.

Lyon expressed admiration for Datsyuk's legacy: “When you see a legend like that, you have appreciation for what they’ve done.”

The Red Wings will next face off against the Boston Bruins at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night.
