Marco Kasper, a 20-year-old forward for the Detroit Red Wings, has been actively participating in every game since his recall from the Grand Rapids Griffins on October 18. Kasper expressed his enthusiasm about playing in the NHL, stating, “It’s really cool to be up here, get playing time and play in the NHL with all of these guys.”
Kasper has contributed one assist and maintained a plus-two rating over 11 games this season. He averages 15:12 of ice time and participates in both special teams units. Despite limited offensive results so far, he remains optimistic about future performance. “You always want to score,” Kasper said. “We’re always trying to... I think that’s what the focus has to be on.”
Acknowledging the importance of learning from each experience, Kasper values feedback from coaches and teammates. "All of the staff and players have been around for some time," he noted.
Kasper's skills include a strong two-way game and high competitiveness. He aims to perform at his best consistently, whether during regular play or special teams assignments.
Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde commented on Kasper's development journey: “He’s helping the group right now, but you still have to develop him.” Lalonde pointed out that mistakes are part of growth but sees potential in Kasper due to his motivation to improve.
“What I like about a player like that is his willingness to get better,” Lalonde added. He believes Kasper is on an upward trajectory toward becoming a significant player in the league.
