The Detroit Red Wings have assigned goaltender Ville Husso to the Grand Rapids Griffins, the team's affiliate in the American Hockey League. Husso, who is 29 years old, has started two games for the Red Wings this season.
In his time with the Griffins this season, Husso has recorded a 2-0-0 record with a goals-against average of 1.23 and a save percentage of .958, along with one shutout in three appearances. During the previous season, he made 19 appearances for Detroit, achieving a 9-5-2 record and maintaining a goals-against average of 3.55 with a save percentage of .892.
Husso was originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Since beginning his NHL career in the 2020-21 season, he has compiled a record of 69-42-16 across stints with both the Blues and Red Wings.
Before transitioning to North America, Husso played three seasons in Finland's SM-Liiga for HIFK from 2013 to 2016. His international experience includes representing Finland at various championships such as the IIHF World Championship and World Junior Championships.
