The Detroit Red Wings are set to conclude a three-game homestand against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena. The game, which will start at 7 p.m., will be broadcasted by FanDuel Sports Network Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit). Both teams hold a record of 4-5-1 with nine points.

This matchup marks their second meeting within a week. Last Saturday, the Red Wings suffered a 5-3 loss to the Sabres in Buffalo. Head coach Derek Lalonde emphasized the need for consistency as they navigate through the early part of the season.

“We’re sitting here 4-5-1,” Lalonde said. “We’re probably what our record is, but I think there’s some signs of hopefully we can trend this the right way... We got to start finding some consistency, hopefully starting Saturday.”

The Red Wings aim to recover from a recent 6-2 defeat by the Winnipeg Jets, where they fell behind early by three goals. Moritz Seider, who contributed two assists during that game, acknowledged their lack of readiness and stressed the importance of learning from their mistakes.

“Obviously a disappointing night,” Seider remarked. “I think we were expecting a different outcome... We can definitely build off that and find a way to win a hockey game against Buffalo.”

Despite Wednesday's loss, Detroit's power play was effective, scoring twice out of three opportunities. Team captain Dylan Larkin expressed optimism about this aspect of their performance.

“That’s confidence right there,” Larkin said. “We went over the boards, got one and then next time we went over we knew we were going to get another one... It’s a huge part of our team’s identity.”

The Sabres come into this game after losing 4-3 to the New York Islanders on Friday. Players Dylan Cozens, Jason Zucker, and Owen Power scored for Buffalo in that match.

“They obviously like to play offense,” Seider commented on facing Buffalo again. “They like to stretch us out... If we can control that... I think we’ll have a good game plan on our side and hopefully get two points.”
