Detroit City Football Club has confirmed that defender Devon Amoo-Mensah will remain with the team for an additional two years. The contract extension secures his position through the 2026 USL Championship season. Amoo-Mensah has been a key figure in the team's defense alongside captain Stephen Carroll over the last three seasons.

Amoo-Mensah's contributions were recognized after an impressive 2023 season when he received the Black Arrow MVP Award. He joined Detroit City FC from Michigan Stars before their transition to the USL Championship in 2022, following his tenure at the National Independent Soccer Association side. Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Amoo-Mensah developed his skills in the Chicago Fire system and Sockers FC Chicago. During his college career at Lewis University, he was twice selected for All-GLVC honors and made 73 appearances, scoring eight goals.

In his early games with Detroit City FC, Amoo-Mensah played a pivotal role in securing a 2-1 victory against MLS team Columbus Crew during the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup third round by playing all 90 minutes and making crucial defensive plays.

Despite suffering an injury that sidelined him in July of the 2022 season and into early 2023, Amoo-Mensah returned to form and became integral to Detroit City's defense once again. His performance was critical in securing their first-ever USL Championship playoff victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds, earning him another Black Arrow MVP Award for his outstanding play throughout the season.

This season, Amoo-Mensah has maintained consistent playtime, participating fully in every match except one against FC Tulsa where he entered as a substitute. He also played a significant role against Houston Dynamo FC by playing all 120 minutes and successfully converting his penalty during their victory on penalties.

Throughout his time with Le Rouge, Amoo-Mensah has accumulated 86 appearances, scored three goals (two in 2023 and one in 2024), and contributed five assists across different seasons.

The agreement is subject to League and Federation approval.
