Detroit City FC secured a spot in the 2024 USL Championship playoffs with a goalless draw against Indy Eleven at Keyworth Stadium. Despite dominating possession, Detroit struggled to convert their chances into goals.

The match started evenly, with both teams sharing possession in the first ten minutes. Detroit City's attack faced challenges breaking through Indy's defense. In the 16th minute, a free kick for Detroit resulted in a diving save by the Indy goalkeeper after a well-executed shot.

James Murphy received the first yellow card of the match in the 37th minute. Although Detroit controlled possession and frequently entered the attacking third, they failed to produce quality shots on target before halftime.

The second half saw similar play from both sides. In the 55th minute, Alex Villanueva's cross nearly led to a goal when Devon Amoo-Mensah's attempt was deflected out of play. Brem Soumaoro received Indy's first yellow card in the 57th minute.

Indy Eleven tested Detroit's goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher with an outside-the-box shot in the 63rd minute, but he made another diving save to maintain the scoreless tie.

Detroit made its first substitution in the 65th minute as Laurent Kissiedou replaced Elvis Amoh. Kissiedou quickly took a shot on target following his entry, but it was saved by Indy's keeper. Ben Morris had an opportunity two minutes later but narrowly missed scoring.

A scuffle occurred in the 69th minute resulting in yellow cards for Abdoulaye Diop and Indy's James Musa. Detroit made additional substitutions late in the game with Yazeed Matthews replacing Ben Morris and Abdi Salim coming on for Rhys Williams during stoppage time.

The match concluded with a 0-0 draw, which was sufficient for Detroit City to secure their playoff berth for a third consecutive year since joining USL Championship. Last season, they achieved an upset victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds before being eliminated by Louisville City FC.

Detroit City's final regular-season home game is set against Miami FC next Saturday at Keyworth Stadium, where they could potentially earn a home playoff game. Tickets are available at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
