Goalie Cam Talbot led the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators, marking their first win of the 2024-25 season. Talbot stopped all 42 shots in his debut with the Red Wings, earning his 32nd career NHL shutout. "I thought I felt pretty good all day today," Talbot said. He credited his preparation and early saves for maintaining momentum.

Detroit has now won three consecutive home games against Nashville, who had Juuse Saros make 19 saves on Saturday. Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde praised both Talbot and the team's defensive effort, stating, "That's a really good team... That was a pretty good effort."

The game began scoreless, with Nashville outshooting Detroit in the first period. J.T. Compher scored early in the second period, assisted by Ben Chiarot and Moritz Seider. Andrew Copp added another goal in the third period after a pass from Lucas Raymond, with Simon Edvinsson assisting.

Despite losing Christian Fischer to an injury in the second period, Detroit held strong defensively as Nashville pulled Saros for an extra skater late in the game. Dylan Larkin sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

Copp noted their effective defense: "We did a really good job of digging in on draws." Albert Johansson made his NHL debut, playing nearly 12 minutes. Lalonde appreciated Johansson's performance, saying he played well against Nashville.

Reflecting on their first win of the season, Copp emphasized its importance: “It was a big night for us... You can’t ease into the season.” The Red Wings will next face off against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Lalonde hopes this win sets a standard for future games: "Winning in this league is very hard... but it can be very rewarding when it looks like that." He praised Talbot's consistent play and highlighted how crucial defensive support was during the match.

Talbot expressed gratitude for his teammates' shot-blocking efforts: "As a goaltender, you appreciate that more than anything." He also spoke about healthy competition among Detroit's goalies: "We're going to continue to push each other."
