Albert Johansson is set to make his NHL debut for the Detroit Red Wings against the Nashville Predators at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night. The defenseman, who was selected 60th overall by the Red Wings in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, expressed his excitement about the upcoming game. "It’s going to be a special night," Johansson said. "It’s going to be a dream-come-true moment. I’m really excited."

The game between Detroit (0-1-0) and Nashville (0-1-0) will start at 7 p.m., with coverage available on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket). Fans attending will receive a 2024-25 season Magnet Schedule, courtesy of Belle Tire.

Before the game, the Red Wings will host the Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk from 3-4 p.m. in Chevrolet Plaza outside Little Caesars Arena. This event allows fans to interact with players and coaches. "We have a very passionate fanbase," said Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde. "I’ve seen the excitement of this fanbase…I personally love [that Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk] has become annual for me and my daughter."

Johansson, who recorded 21 points last season with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, admitted feeling both excited and nervous about his debut. He plans to keep his gameplay simple and effective alongside teammate Olli Maatta during Saturday's match-up.

His family will be present for his debut, having traveled from Sweden to support him. "Mom, dad, and one of my brothers are on their way," Johansson shared.

Detroit lost its season opener against Pittsburgh Penguins with a score of 6-3 despite multi-point performances from Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond. Coach Lalonde noted that self-inflicted errors were detrimental in Thursday's game.

Meanwhile, Nashville is coming off a narrow defeat to Dallas Stars and aims to improve upon last season's fourth-place finish in the Central Division. Tyler Motte commented on Nashville's current roster as offering an opportunity for improvement: "A different look than last year coming in [Saturday]."
