The Detroit Red Wings have made significant changes to their preseason roster, reducing it to 28 players. The team announced the assignment of several players to different leagues. Forwards Nate Danielson, Cross Hanas, Marco Kasper, Carter Mazur, and Elmer Söderblom, along with defensemen Tory Dello, Antti Tuomisto, Eemil Viro, and William Wallinder have been assigned to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, goaltenders Sebastian Cossa and Carter Gylander will also join the Griffins.

In another move, forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygård has been loaned to Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League.

With these changes, the Red Wings' training camp roster now consists of 15 forwards, 10 defensemen, and three goaltenders. The team is gearing up for its 99th season in franchise history. Their opening game is scheduled for Thursday, October 10 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Little Caesars Arena.
