Detroit City FC is set to complete a two-game road trip with a crucial match against Charleston Battery this Saturday. The Eastern Conference clash, part of the push to the playoffs, will take place at Patriots Point Soccer Complex at 4:00 PM EDT. Fans can watch live on ESPN+, TUDN, and CW Detroit 50 (WKBD-TV). Le Rouge recently secured a 2-0 victory over Monterey Bay FC. Ben Morris scored in the 37th minute, and Connor Rutz added another goal from a corner in the 86th minute. This win moved Detroit City up to third place in the Eastern Conference standings, surpassing Tampa Bay Rowdies. With four matches remaining, Detroit holds 48 points, two points ahead of Tampa Bay, who have one game in hand.

A win against Charleston Battery would secure Detroit City a spot in the 2024 USL Championship playoffs.

In their last five games, both teams have shown similar performance levels. Detroit has earned 11 points while Charleston has earned 10. Charleston's recent victory was a 3-1 win over Tampa Bay Rowdies with Juan Torres scoring early and Nick Markanich adding two more goals. Markanich has set a new single-season goal record in the USL Championship with his total reaching 27 goals.

Earlier this season, these teams faced off at Keyworth Stadium where Detroit won 2-0 thanks to Maxi Rodriguez’s penalty and an additional goal by Elvis Amoh during stoppage time. Their previous encounter in Charleston ended in a goalless draw back in June of last year.
