Wayne State University and Detroit City Football Club have entered into a new partnership, emphasizing their shared values and commitment to education and community engagement in Detroit. This agreement designates Wayne State as DCFC's exclusive higher education partner, offering students internship opportunities in sports management, marketing, and event coordination.

"Wayne State consistently provides our students with a top-tier academic experience in the classroom. We also want every student on our campus to benefit from exciting learn-by-doing opportunities that prepare them for success in their future careers," said WSU President Kimberly Andrews Espy, Ph.D. She added that the collaboration would benefit both the university and its students.

The partnership will see Wayne State University's logo featured on the back of DCFC's men's and women's jerseys, as well as those of local youth teams. This visibility underscores Wayne State's investment in Detroit.

Sean Mann, CEO and Co-Owner of DCFC, remarked on the shared mission: "Whether it’s through DCFC’s youth academy and indoor soccer facility in Detroit or Wayne State’s financial aid offerings and academic support programs, both of our organizations offer young people and other members of our community access to opportunity."

Wayne State community members will receive discounted tickets for DCFC matches. The new jerseys are set to debut at the start of the 2025 season.
