The Detroit Red Wings completed a sweep at the 2024 NHL Prospect Games, securing a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday afternoon at Centre ICE Arena in Traverse City, Michigan.

Alexandre Doucet opened the scoring for the Red Wings at 14:58 of the first period with his third goal of this year’s NHL Prospect Games. He capitalized on Hunter Johannes’ rebound to beat Stars goalie Bryan Thomson, who recorded 17 saves.

Detroit's Carter Gylander stopped all 12 shots he faced in just over 30 minutes before being replaced by Landon Miller. Miller secured the win by saving 16 of 18 shots in relief.

Dallas tied the game at 1-1 when Emil Hemming scored at 13:26 of the second period, assisted by Luke Krys. The Red Wings regained their lead with a goal from Johannes at 16:45, assisted by Amadeus Lombardi and Doucet.

Emmitt Finnie extended Detroit's lead to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 14:07 of the third period, assisted by Jakub Rychlovsky and Nate Danielson. The Stars' Anthony Romano scored with one second remaining for a final score of 3-2.

The Red Wings will commence their annual NHL Training Camp with a season preview party presented by Porsche Detroit North on Wednesday at Delamar Traverse City. Fans can follow coverage on DetroitRedWings.com from Thursday through Sunday.

Grand Rapids Griffins head coach Dan Watson commented on Gylander’s performance: “I thought he had a great game and a half. He played aggressive today. He had a lot more action today than he did last night. For him to be able to put together four and a half really solid periods was good for him.”

Watson also praised Danielson’s play: “With Danielson, I think what we saw was just a smart hockey player. Everyone can see it. He has the ability to make plays, is a smooth skater, sees the ice extremely well and has great vision.”

Doucet reflected on his objectives for the weekend: “I wanted to show that I improved compared to last year. There are many good prospects here, so I’m just trying to work hard and compare myself to them.” On playing alongside Lombardi and Johannes, Doucet added: “It’s pretty easy to play with them. I think Lombardi is a fast skater with good IQ who can make good plays. Hunter is big-bodied, skates well and has an amazing shot.”

Gylander shared his goals for the tournament: “This is my first tournament here, so it was nice to assess where I’m at and see how far I’ve developed over the summer training in Detroit. My expectations were just evaluating where I am out there and trying to keep up with the pace.”
