Detroit City FC settled for a 1-1 draw against Rhode Island FC in their CBS Network debut on Saturday afternoon.

Early in the match, Detroit City's striking duo of Yazeed Matthews and Elvish Amoh created an opportunity in the third minute. A combination play ended with a saved shot from Amoh and a rebounded attempt from Daniel Espeleta that went high over the goal.

Le Rouge continued to press, with Espeleta taking shots in the 5th and 12th minutes, both blocked by Rhode Island's defense. Rhode Island responded with a shot that forced Detroit's goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher into action in the 8th minute.

As the first half progressed, Rhode Island began to assert themselves, generating nine of their 13 total shots during this period. Key opportunities came in the 39th and 43rd minutes, but Detroit managed to keep them at bay, leading to a scoreless first half.

In the second half, Detroit dominated possession and territory. They produced six shots compared to Rhode Island’s three. Maxi Rodriguez had a significant chance in the 74th minute when his shot hit the crossbar after receiving a cross inside the box.

Detroit finally broke through three minutes later. Jeciel Cedeno's initial effort was blocked but fell to Ben Morris, who scored with one touch into the bottom right corner.

After scoring, Detroit focused on defense but nearly added another goal when Morris attempted a long-range shot from behind midfield in the 88th minute.

Rhode Island equalized during stoppage time through an individual effort by Clay Holsted. The match ended with both teams sharing points.

Detroit City will quickly return to action this Wednesday against Pittsburgh Riverhound at 7:00 p.m. EST. Tickets are available at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
