Red Wings sign goaltender Jack Campbell and forward Sheldon Dries

The Detroit Red Wings have signed goaltender Jack Campbell to a one-year contract valued at $775,000 and center Sheldon Dries to a two-year, two-way contract.

Campbell, 32, divided the 2023-24 season between the Edmonton Oilers and the American Hockey League’s Bakersfield Condors. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound goaltender made five appearances with the Oilers during the season and posted an 18-13-1 record with a 2.63 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and three shutouts in 33 games with the Condors. During the entire 2022-23 season with the Oilers, he recorded a 21-9-4 record with a 3.41 goals-against average, an .888 save percentage, and one shutout in 36 regular-season games. He also had a notable performance in four relief appearances during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Selected by the Dallas Stars in the first round (11th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Campbell has accumulated a career record of 93-52-18 with a 2.76 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage, and ten shutouts across stints with the Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings, and Oilers. In addition to his NHL experience, Campbell has also played extensively in the AHL where he has logged a record of 117-82-26 with a 2.72 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.

A native of Port Huron, Michigan, Campbell played two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League before turning professional. He also spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2008 to 2010 and represented Team USA at various international tournaments.

Dries, aged 30 years old spent last season entirely with AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks where he was among team leaders in several statistical categories including goals (29), assists (23), points (52), power play points (16), shorthanded goals (4), game-winning goals (2), and shots on goal (167). The forward also tallied three points in six postseason games for Abbotsford.

During most of his time playing for Vancouver Canucks in the previous season Dries collected seventeen points over sixty-three games along accumulating twenty-nine penalty minutes as well.

Originally signed by AHL's Texas Stars as free agent back May tenth ,2017; Dries compiled twenty-six points within hundred twenty-two NHL games involving both Colorado Avalanche & Vancouver Canucks since starting out professionally dating back from year '18-'19 .

Hailing from Macomb,Michigan ; Dries partook collegiate hockey stint spanning four years representing Western Michigan University ultimately earning captaincy throughout final trio seasons alongside earning spot on NCHC Second All-Star Team concluding senior year tenure there too..
