Detroit City FC returned to winning ways on a hot Saturday night on the road against Miami FC, securing a 4-0 victory. Goals from Rhys Williams, Michael Bryant, and Maxi Rodriguez, who notched a brace off the bench, contributed to the win. This marked the first time Le Rouge scored four goals in a USL Championship match since October 1, 2022, when they defeated Loudoun United on the road.
The match began openly with both sides earning corner kicks within the first seven minutes. Miami FC came close to opening the scoring inside six minutes when the ball bounced around the box but did not result in a goal. Opportunities were limited for the hosts as Detroit City FC gradually increased pressure on Miami's defense.
As halftime approached, an impressive passing move from Le Rouge saw Rhys Williams play into Miami's penalty area before unleashing a powerful strike to score his second goal in two matches this week.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Detroit City won a deep free kick inside Miami's half. A precise delivery from Ryan Williams found Michael Bryant's head, doubling Detroit City's lead.
In the 72nd minute, newly substituted Maxi Rodriguez connected with an inch-perfect cross from Abdoulaye Diop, who had regained possession in midfield before advancing forward. Rodriguez finished it first-time to extend the lead to 3-0.
With seconds remaining in the match, striker Elvis Amoh executed a well-timed cutback from the goal line into Rodriguez's path, allowing him to score his second goal of the night and secure Detroit City's fourth.
Next up for Detroit City FC is a home game against Tampa Bay Rowdies at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, July 6. A win would propel Le Rouge back into the top four of the Eastern Conference standings, securing them a home playoff match.
