The first action of the match fell to Allie Tefend on the left flank as she broke down the line, whipping a ball into Kate Childers. Childers won the header at the back post, but the effort was met by a diving save from Michiana’s keeper.

Three minutes later, Michiana responded promptly as they found themselves behind one-on-one, but Deighton Wamer remained big to make the save.

Le Rouge started to work into the game slowly, with a chance falling to Drew Martin on the top of the 18-yard box. Martin danced past her marker before being taken down in the box for a DCFC penalty. Martin stepped up for the penalty and calmly slotted it in the bottom right corner to open up the scoring for DCFC in the 29th minute.

The final chance of the half fell to Michiana, who got into a dangerous position in DCFC’s 18-yard box. Multiple tackles and clearance attempts flew in as DCFC just managed to clear the danger, bringing a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Le Rouge flew out of the gates at the start of the second half, grabbing two goals in five minutes. In the 47th minute, Hannah Crum fired a shot off the crossbar which Faith Webber reacted to first and nodded home for a second goal. In the 50th minute, Kayla Addison was taken down in Michiana's 18-yard box earning DCFC their second penalty of the game, which Addison tidily put away to make it 3-0.

Le Rouge continued to look like the more dangerous side until Michiana earned their own penalty in minute 59 which was converted making it 3-1. Following this goal, DCFC found two more chances through Webber whose efforts produced brilliant saves from Michiana’s keeper.

Michiana continued pushing and found another goal in minute 82 after some brilliant individual play from their left winger making it 3-2 with just under ten minutes left. The final ten minutes saw Le Rouge hunker down to close out their win as they continued their successful USL W League regular season campaign.
