Detroit City FC is poised to make a significant stride toward its first-ever playoff berth for its women’s team as it hosts Midwest United FC at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday evening. The match, which is the second in a Detroit City FC doubleheader, is scheduled to kick off at 7 PM and will be streamed on CBSDetroit.com.

Detroit City FC enters the contest aiming to rebound from a dominant yet frustrating 0-0 draw against Cleveland Force SC, currently in sixth place. Despite controlling the match and creating numerous opportunities throughout the 90 minutes, Detroit City FC was unable to secure a victory. This draw marked only the second time this season that Cleveland had earned points.

Midwest United FC recently faced a challenging 2-0 road loss to Kalamazoo FC on Thursday evening, marking their second defeat of the season. Kalamazoo FC capitalized on their home advantage, finding comfort in their forward play against Midwest United.

Saturday’s match holds significant playoff implications, with both teams positioned at the top of the USL W League Great Lakes Division standings. After seven games each, Detroit City FC leads with a Points Per Match tally of 2.43, surpassing Midwest United’s total of 2.14.

Since establishing a women’s side in 2020, Detroit City FC has yet to defeat Midwest United FC, which has become known as a 'bogey team' among supporters. This rivalry dates back to Detroit City's inaugural women's match in 2020 when they lost on the road to Midwest United.

This game marks the penultimate home match for Detroit City's USL W League side this season. The team will next host Kalamazoo FC at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, June 22. This fixture will be followed by an International Friendly for the men’s side against Pumas UNAM of Liga MX.
