Le Rouge enters this match following a 2-0 road victory at Rhode Island FC. A sequence of passes led to Maxi Rodriguez scoring just before halftime, giving Detroit a 1-0 lead. The team doubled their lead in the 64th minute with a goal from Victor Bezerra, assisted by Ben Morris.
Morris and Rodriguez were named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 14 due to their performances. Morris was noted for his defensive efforts, winning two tackles and making 14 recoveries. Rodriguez completed 32 of 37 passes and won six out of eight duels.
