Grow Wayne County Grant Pilot Program

The Grow Wayne County Grant Pilot Program (Grow Wayne County or GWC) is a collaborative effort between the GM Foundation and Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency, or Wayne Metro. The overall objective of Grow Wayne County is to advance inclusive community development by supporting resident-led organizations within a 5 mile radius of the GM Factory ZERO plant in Hamtramck. By providing grant funding, leadership development and training, Grow Wayne County will equip grassroots organizations with the resources and skills to maximize their positive impact on their community and guide the future of their neighborhoods.

The Grow Wayne County Program is meant to serve as a bridge between mini grants such as the Seeding Wayne County Program and larger grants from foundations or governmental entities. GWC is a part of Wayne Metro’s “Participatory Grantmaking Pathway” which is designed to help organizations realize their full potential and secure a more financially stable future.

Organizations invited to apply during this pilot phase will partner with Wayne Metro to achieve the following objectives: Increase and diversify resident voices to identify priorities, influence policy and effect positive, measurable change, engage at least 100 Highland Park and/or Hamtramck residents to advocate for, build coalitions to, or participate in activities that address priorities specific to their communities, create opportunities for organizational and leadership development among non-profit organizations led primarily by Black, Indigenous, and people of  Color (BIPOC), including but not limited to Black, Yemeni, and Bangladeshi persons.

To raise the visibility of resident engagement and resident power as worthwhile investments necessary to sustain transformation in Wayne County’s neighborhoods begin work to unite the private, public, and consumer sectors in the improvement of neighborhoods within Hamtramck and Highland Park.
