City of Detroit issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.
Detroit homeowners! Don’t lose your home to tax foreclosure. Detroit’s Homeowners Property Tax Assistance Program (HPTAP) together with the Pay As You Stay program (PAYS) with the Wayne County Treasurer can help reduce or even eliminate tax problems and keep you in your home. Be sure to complete the application and provide supporting documentation. It has already helped over 4,000 homeowners, see if you qualify.
File for relief today. Deadline is December 14th. Go to detroitmi.gov/hptap or dial pound 250 and say the key words “h-p-tap” to begin your application.
Applications can now be completed online.
