American Axle & Manufacturing issued the following announcement on Aug. 12
Committed to growing and developing the next generation of engineers, AAM is a leading sponsor of the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge.
The four-year competition, which is part of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition (AVTC) series, challenges university teams to apply advanced propulsion systems and connected and automated vehicle technology to improve the energy efficiency, safety and consumer appeal specifically for the carsharing market.
The program works to develop a highly skilled workforce by providing hands-on experience designing and building next-generation mobility solutions. Teams will apply advanced propulsion systems, electrification, mild automation and vehicle connectivity to improve the energy efficiency of a SUV, while balancing factors such as emissions, safety, utility and consumer acceptability.
As a sponsor, AAM provides hardware, software, training and support the teams need to integrate technologies into their competition vehicles.
Additionally, AAM technical experts provide judging expertise during competitions. To view the latest award ceremony featuring AAM’s technical experts visit EcoCAR's official YouTube channel.
