Senator Joseph Bellino announced on Apr. 15 the appointment of Josh Stump as his new chief of staff.
The announcement is significant for constituents in Monroe, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties, as it places a local resident with legislative experience in a key leadership role within Bellino’s office.
“I am excited to have Josh join our team as my new chief of staff,” said Bellino. “As a native of our district with legislative experience working in the district, he understands the issues facing our communities and will be an effective voice for them as we work to improve our state and the lives of all our families and workers.”
Stump was born and raised in Bedford Township, where he currently serves as a township trustee. He lives there with his wife Kara and their two-year-old son. “I’m honored by this opportunity and am looking forward to serving the people of Monroe, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties,” Stump said. “This region is home for me and my family, so this isn’t just a job, it’s our future. I take that seriously and am committed to working hard for the people of the 16th District.”
Stump holds a degree in religious studies with a minor in philosophy from the University of Mount Union, where he participated in football and track. His professional background includes work as a social studies teacher, former owner of Snap Fitness in Dundee, legislative director for Representative Jim DeSana, legislative director for Representative Dale Zorn, and district representative for then-Senator Dale Zorn.
Bellino’s decision brings someone familiar with both local issues and state government operations into his office at an important time.
