The Detroit Red Wings have assigned forward Elmer Söderblom to the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League. Söderblom, a 23-year-old player, participated in 26 games for the Red Wings during the 2024-25 season, accumulating 11 points, a plus-two rating, and six penalty minutes. His average ice time with the team was 13:22.

During the same season, Söderblom also played with the Griffins, recording 17 points and a plus-four rating in 38 games. His previous season with the Griffins was noteworthy as he achieved career highs across various statistics. Over the 2023-24 season, Söderblom played 61 games, scored 13 goals, and made 16 assists, contributing significantly to the Griffins’ advance to the Central Division Finals.

Selected by the Red Wings in 2019, Söderblom has accumulated 19 points and 14 penalty minutes in 47 NHL games since the 2022-23 season. In total, his AHL career features 54 points over 119 games with the Griffins.

Before playing in North America, Söderblom was part of Frölunda HC in Sweden. During his tenure, he played 90 Swedish Hockey League games, scoring 38 points, and contributing to Frölunda’s Champions Hockey League victory in 2020. Söderblom is also recognized for his international achievements, having represented Sweden in several junior championships, where he earned both a gold medal and a silver medal.
