The Detroit Red Wings are set to face the St. Louis Blues on a brief road trip, with the game scheduled at the Enterprise Center on Tuesday night. The match marks the second and final encounter between the teams this season, with the Red Wings having lost their previous meeting against the Blues 4-0 at Little Caesars Arena in December. The Blues, currently on a nine-game winning streak, pose a significant challenge for Detroit. “They’re playing well,” said Craig Smith regarding St. Louis. He described the upcoming match as a tough task, emphasizing the strong culture under the Blues’ head coach, Jim Montgomery.

The Red Wings aim to build on their recent 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins. Coach Todd McLellan highlighted the improvement in the team’s confidence and performance during their recent winning streaks. Detroit captain Dylan Larkin stressed the importance of maintaining the intensity demonstrated in the game against the Bruins, noting the team’s effective engagement in foot races and puck battles.

St. Louis, riding high after a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche, trails the Minnesota Wild by a single point for the Western Conference’s first Wild-Card position. Robert Thomas leads the Blues with 68 points this season, supported by standout performances from Jordan Kyrou and Dylan Holloway. McLellan acknowledged the Blues as a “confident team” with a well-structured game plan, crediting captain Brayden Schenn and goalie Jordan Binnington as pivotal contributors. Binnington has shown consistent performance, requiring the Red Wings to focus on making him uncomfortable to improve their chances of victory. “You’ve got to get traffic on him,” Larkin advised, emphasizing the challenge of disrupting Binnington’s current form.
