The Detroit Red Wings will host the Dallas Stars on Monday at Little Caesars Arena for Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Coke Zero Sugar and Meijer. The game, with a 7 p.m. start, will be the Red Wings’ final home match of the 2024-25 season. The team stands at 37-35-7, totaling 81 points, while the Stars are at 50-24-6 with 108 points. The game will be broadcasted on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit Extra and Fox 2 Detroit, with radio coverage on WWJ Newsradio 950.

Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan commented on the significance of hockey in Detroit: “It’s Hockeytown for a reason… You get a sense of how important this sport is in the city.”

On Saturday, the Red Wings were eliminated from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs contention after Montreal Canadiens’ overtime road loss pushed them to 88 points, one more than Detroit could achieve with three games left.

McLellan acknowledged the need for improvement: “There are different moments throughout the season that you can point to… The coaches have to get more out of the players that are here, and the players have to give more when they’re here.”

Despite disappointment, Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin emphasized the importance of the upcoming game: “There’s always something to play for in this League… We owe them a solid performance.”

The Stars, set to compete against the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference First Round, are currently second in the Central Division. They are on a five-game winless streak after their loss to the Utah Hockey Club.

Matt Duchene, with 81 points (30 goals, 51 assists), leads the Stars, followed by Jason Robertson with 80 points (35 goals, 45 assists). Goalies Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith have maintained a 2.56 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

Austin Watson praised the Stars: “They’re an exceptional, well-coached team… A lot of that core hasn’t changed, so you’ve got some extremely talented players over there.”
