Alex Lyon, the Red Wings’ goaltender, delivered a commendable performance with 28 saves, while Nico Daws of the Devils stopped 22 shots. The Devils were resting several regulars, as noted by McLellan.
Detroit’s Lucas Raymond acknowledged the difficulty of such matches but highlighted the team’s good start, “Probably not our best game, but we’ll take it and look to keep that going tomorrow.”
Jonatan Berggren contributed to the Red Wings’ lead, scoring the opening goal and logging a two-point night. “He’s been able to finish and get involved in the game,” McLellan remarked about Berggren’s performance.

The Devils attempted a comeback with goals from Erik Haula and Dawson Mercer, but Alex DeBrincat and Marco Kasper sealed the game for Detroit with late goals. DeBrincat’s goal was crucial. McLellan commented, “[DeBrincat] is a pretty good two-way player right now.”
Raymond and Lyon were pleased with their performance, Raymond stating, “I feel like it’s taken another step,” about his offensive contributions this season.
After this victory, Detroit will conclude their regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
Raymond praised Lyon’s efforts, saying, “He was great. Saved us numerous times.” Lyon, reflecting on his night, mentioned, “I felt pretty good, pretty comfortable.”
