Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has highlighted ongoing issues facing her constituents and raised concerns about international human rights developments in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On March 30, 2026, Tlaib addressed the aftermath of severe flooding in Southeast Michigan, noting persistent health hazards for local families. She wrote: “Two years after severe flooding in Southeast Michigan, families are facing toxic mold in their homes. My Fix Our Flooded Basements Act will require FEMA to cover basement flood damage and mold and mildew remediation.” (March 30, 2026)
Later that day, Tlaib commented on legislative developments in Israel: “The Israeli government is about to pass a law mandating the death penalty, only for Palestinian prisoners. Mass execution by hanging, solely on racial lines. This is apartheid and the next step in the genocide of Palestinians, already systematically tortured in Israeli prisons.” (March 30, 2026)
On March 31, 2026, Tlaib discussed support for seniors in her district: “Our seniors deserves to live with dignity in a safe home as they grow older. Home repair is a critical need in our community that I hear from residents about at every town hall. I’m proud to bring $3,150,000 home for Southfield’s Aging in Place Critical Home Repair Program.” (March 31, 2026)
Tlaib has represented Michigan’s 12th District since 2019 after previously serving in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. She was born and resides in Detroit and holds degrees from Wayne State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
