Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, recently highlighted her legislative efforts and advocacy through a series of posts on her official social media account.

On August 6, 2025, Tlaib announced: “I’m fighting for real investments in our communities across #12thDistrictStrong. Our office submitted 15 Community Project Funding requests in the fiscal year 2026 appropriations bills that would bring back $15,722,000 to every corner of Michigan’s 12th Congressional District for https://t.co/CA5AMuluaz”.

Later that day, she addressed ongoing concerns about voting rights: “It’s been 60 years since the Voting Rights Act was signed but voter suppression is still happening. From racist ID laws to Trump’s attempt to steal congressional seats in Texas, our democracy is under attack. I’ll never stop fighting to protect our rights and every voice in our” (August 6, 2025).

On August 7, Tlaib shared her experiences from Veterans Day of Action and National Purple Heart Day: “I spent Veterans Day of Action and National Purple Heart Day hearing from veterans like Mr. Williams and Mr. Ayers, a Korean War veteran who faced racism after coming home. While the Trump Administration attacks VA workers and union busts, we’re fighting to fully fund the VA, https://t.co/feZS7uhlfP”.

Tlaib has served as the representative for Michigan’s 12th District since replacing Brenda Jones in 2019. Before joining Congress, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, Tlaib holds degrees from Wayne State University (BA) and Thomas M. Cooley Law School (JD).
