Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to highlight legislative initiatives and community engagement efforts in late July 2025.

On July 25, Tlaib addressed disaster relief policy for flood victims, stating, “You shouldn’t be denied FEMA help after floods just because the damage is in your basement. My Fix Our Flooded Basements Act makes sure FEMA covers repairs, mold removal, and basic safety needs. No one should be forced to live in toxic, unsafe conditions.”

Later that day, she described a local outreach event: “During these challenging times, our team is dedicated to helping our families access vital services. We held a Resource Fair with the Office of Governor Whitmer and state elected officials to connect our families with district service providers. Thank you for coming out!” This resource fair aimed to connect residents with necessary services through collaboration between federal and state offices.

On July 28, Tlaib marked an institutional milestone by posting: “As we mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Postal Service, we recognize this absolutely vital public service. I will always fight to protect USPS from privatization efforts that put profits over people.”

Tlaib has represented Michigan’s 12th district since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones as its congressional representative (she previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014). Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, Tlaib holds degrees from Wayne State University (BA) and Thomas M. Cooley Law School (JD).
