Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on February 2, 2026, addressing health insurance coverage and economic inequality in the United States.

In a tweet from that day, Tlaib wrote: “More Americans are losing health insurance. Why? Because the Senate failed to extend the ACA tax credits. Enrollment dropping by more than a million isn’t a mistake—it’s Republicans choosing profit over people.” (February 2, 2026)

Later that afternoon, she shared an op-ed co-authored with Joseph Geevarghese from Our Revolution: “Read my op-ed with Joseph Geevarghese from @OurRevolution:

(February 2, 2026)

Tlaib also commented on broader economic issues facing Americans: “The affordability crisis is out of control. 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck—while CEOs make 281 times more than their average workers. It’s time to defund the oligarchy and invest in working people.” (February 2, 2026)

Tlaib has represented Michigan’s 12th District since replacing Brenda Jones in Congress in 2019 and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there, Tlaib holds degrees from Wayne State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
