Rashida Tlaib, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 12th district since 2019, recently expressed her views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Tlaib, who was born in Detroit and has served in public office since 2009, continues to be an active voice on matters affecting her constituents and the broader national landscape.

On May 22, 2025, Tlaib addressed recent legislative actions by Republicans, stating “Republicans need to stop lying. They just voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in the history of our country.” She shared her statement on what she described as a harmful Republican budget reconciliation package.

Later that day, Tlaib responded to an incident of violence in Washington D.C., expressing sympathy for those affected. She tweeted “My heart breaks for the loved ones of the victims of last night’s attack in D.C. Nobody deserves such terrible violence. Everyone in our communities deserves to live in safety and in peace.”

The following day, on May 23, 2025, Tlaib commented on housing issues. She asserted that “Housing is a human right. Gutting the Department of Housing and Urban Development would be catastrophic for working families.” Her tweet highlighted concerns about affordability and stability for working families amidst economic disparities.

Tlaib’s statements reflect her ongoing commitment to addressing critical social issues as she represents Michigan’s 12th district.
