Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing U.S. policy toward Israel and community engagement in Dearborn.

On July 31, 2025, Tlaib highlighted a significant development in the Senate: “For the first time in history, a majority of Senate Democrats voted to block weapons to the Israeli government that are being used to carry out the genocide of the Palestinian people. Later that day, she posted about local outreach activities: “Joined Mayor Abdullah Hammoud on one of his neighborhood walks. Loved being in the heart of Dearborn, where you’ll find story after story of immigrant families who struggled but came together to build dreams and neighborhoods.” This message underscores her ongoing involvement with communities in Michigan.

On August 1, 2025, Tlaib addressed concerns over U.S. government actions regarding humanitarian aid for Palestinians: “As millions of Palestinians face forced starvation, the State Department is engaging in genocide denial. Tlaib has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Brenda Jones and previously represented Detroit-area constituents in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. She was born in Detroit in 1976 and continues to reside there. Her academic background includes a BA from Wayne State University (1998) and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2004).
