On June 9, 2025, Tlaib expressed her concerns regarding an incident involving the Israeli government. She stated that “The Israeli government abducted the brave @GazaFFlotilla crew, including @GretaThunberg, and seized the ship to block aid from reaching Gaza.” She urged for the immediate release of these activists and called for an end to what she described as a “starvation blockade.”

Later that day, Tlaib attended Cody High School’s graduation ceremony in Detroit. Reflecting on this event in a tweet posted at 20:31 UTC, she shared that “Speaking at Cody High’s graduation filled me with pride and hope.” She praised the students for overcoming challenges and highlighted their accomplishments by mentioning Dominique, who was also the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition.

On June 10, 2025, Tlaib celebrated a milestone with the American Cancer Society during their Relay for Life event. In her tweet posted at 14:01 UTC, she noted her participation by saying “I was proud to celebrate 25 years of courage and community at the Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society.” The congresswoman emphasized her commitment to healthcare being recognized as a human right rather than a privilege.

Tlaib has served in Congress since succeeding Brenda Jones in 2019. Her political career began in Michigan’s House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976, Tlaib graduated from Wayne State University before earning a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
