Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on her official social media account this week addressing both national political issues and cultural observances.
On April 7, 2026, Tlaib published a post criticizing the President and calling for his removal from office: “After bombing a school and massacring young girls, the war criminal in the White House is threatening genocide. It’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment. This maniac should be removed from office.”
The following day, April 8, she recognized Arab American Heritage Month with a message celebrating community contributions: “Happy Arab American Heritage Month! This month we recognize the rich culture, history, and achievements of Arab Americans in Michigan and across our country.”
On April 9, Tlaib addressed the case of Salah Sarsour, writing: “Salah Sarsour, a respected Milwaukee leader, is a legal permanent resident who has lived in our country for over 32 years. He was targeted by ICE for speaking out against the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza. He should be released immediately.”
Tlaib has served as U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 12th District since 2019 after succeeding Brenda Jones. She previously held office in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, Tlaib earned her BA from Wayne State University and later received her JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
