Later that afternoon, Tlaib turned attention to humanitarian concerns in Gaza. She stated, “The images of starving children in Gaza are overwhelming. We can’t stop talking about Gaza. We must save lives. I stood with Doctors Against Genocide and Veterans for Peace at the Capitol to say: Stop Starving Gaza.” (July 29, 2025).

In a third tweet posted that evening, Tlaib thanked local organizations and residents for their support regarding flood relief efforts in her district. She posted, “Thank you Eastside Community Network, Wayne Metro, After the Storm, United Way of Southeastern Michigan, Warrendale Community Org, and our amazing residents for supporting our Fix Our Flooded Basements Act and for your advocacy helping our neighbors who’ve been impacted by” (July 29, 2025).

Tlaib has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones as representative for Michigan’s 12th district. Prior to her congressional role, she was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there, Tlaib earned her BA from Wayne State University and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
