Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed a series of legislative initiatives and concerns through her official social media accounts.

On July 30, 2025, Tlaib highlighted ongoing health risks facing residents in her district due to persistent mold issues following past flooding events. She stated, “Years after devastating floods, our residents are living with mold that’s exposing them to health risks. I introduced the Fix Our Flooded Basements Act to help families get the disaster aid they deserve.”

Later that same day, she discussed recent changes to Medicaid funding and reaffirmed her commitment to protecting the program. On July 30, 2025, she wrote, “Medicaid saves lives. Despite Republicans making the largest cut to Medicaid in American history, I will continue fighting to protect this vital program that our families rely on for generations to come.”

On July 31, 2025, Tlaib addressed economic challenges related to consumer pricing and surveillance technology used by corporations. She posted, “Families are already facing an affordability crisis. Now, big companies are using exploitative surveillance technology to jack up prices. I am proud to join @RepCasar in introducing legislation to ensure that all consumers pay the same price, regardless of their background.”

Tlaib has represented Michigan’s 12th district since 2019 after succeeding Brenda Jones and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born and raised in Detroit in 1976, Tlaib holds a BA from Wayne State University and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
