State Senator Michael Webber has been recognized as one of the 2025 State Legislative Champion awardees by Mental Health America. The formal presentation took place on Wednesday in Lansing, Michigan.

Webber is the minority vice chair of the Senate Committee on Health Policy. He was honored for his advocacy and support of policies aimed at improving Michigan’s mental health care system. These efforts include expanding prevention and treatment resources, reducing barriers to care, and working to improve the lives of people affected by behavioral health and substance use conditions.

“It is incredibly humbling to be acknowledged as one of Mental Health America’s legislative champions,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “Mental health care is health care. It is important that we treat it as such and continue working to shed light on how we can improve transparency and care for patients across the state.”

The initial recognition took place during Mental Health America’s Regional Policy Council meeting in Chicago in early December. On Wednesday, Marianne Huff, president and CEO of the Mental Health Association in Michigan, presented Webber with the award.
