Hannah Crum named captain for 2026 USL W League season

Detroit City FC announced on May 6 that Hannah Crum has been named captain for the club’s upcoming 2026 USL W League season. Crum, who joined Detroit City in 2023, has established herself as a leading scorer and a key contributor to the team’s recent successes in both outdoor and indoor competitions.

The appointment is significant as Detroit City FC prepares for another competitive campaign. The club is recognized for its community-driven approach and strong supporter engagement, according to the official website.

Head coach Dani Evans said, “Hannah embodies everything this club stands for: work ethic, consistency, and leadership. Her impact on and off the field makes her the natural choice to lead this group.”

Before joining Detroit City FC, Crum played at Aquinas College from 2018 to 2022. She scored a total of 73 goals during her collegiate career and was recognized with CoSIDA All-American honors. In her senior year, she helped guide Aquinas to the NAIA National Tournament quarterfinals.

Since arriving in Detroit, Crum contributed two goals and two assists during the club’s Great Lakes Division title run in the 2024 USL W season. She also recorded notable performances indoors with eleven goals and six assists during Detroit City’s inaugural PASL women’s campaign. During the following MASLW indoor season (2024–2025), she scored eight goals as Detroit City finished undefeated in regular season play and reached the league championship final.

Crum continued her form into subsequent seasons by recording multiple-goal matches against Toledo Villa FC and Midwest United FC outdoors while also earning team MVP honors with four goals and three assists in one campaign. Most recently, she helped lead Detroit City to an MASLW National Semifinals appearance during the 2025–2026 indoor competition.

Detroit City FC operates under co-founders including CEO Sean Mann and Chief Creative Officer Alex Wright according to the official website. The team plays home matches at Keyworth Stadium which is known for its energetic atmosphere created by passionate supporters according to the official website.

As captain, Crum will be expected to guide a squad with high expectations heading into next year’s league campaign.
