The Detroit Regional Chamber’s political action committee has endorsed Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan for governor. This early endorsement is seen as a boost for Duggan, who is running as an independent candidate for the state’s top office.

The chamber’s announcement came earlier than usual, with the organization typically revealing its preferred gubernatorial candidate later in the election cycle. In previous years, such as 2018 and 2022, the chamber supported Democrat Gretchen Whitmer, who won both elections. In 2014, they backed Republican Rick Snyder’s re-election campaign.

The chamber’s support could play a significant role in Duggan’s campaign efforts.
