The Detroit Regional Chamber PAC has endorsed Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, an independent candidate for governor. This early endorsement comes as a surprise in a politically charged climate. Chamber President Sandy K. Baruah emphasized the need for leadership that can bridge political divides, stating, “Throughout his business and government career, Mike Duggan has proven he can bring people together to work toward common goals.”

The decision to endorse Duggan was unanimous among the PAC members. The chamber was also the first organization to back Duggan’s mayoral campaign in 2013. David Foltyn, Chairman and CEO of Honigman and chair of the Chamber PAC, praised Duggan’s leadership in Detroit as exemplary and expressed confidence in his ability to create a pro-growth environment in Michigan.

This endorsement is noteworthy for Duggan as it positions him favorably against major party candidates 16 months before the general election.
