The Detroit Regional Chamber has announced its endorsement of Mayor Mike Duggan for the governor’s race in 2026. This support from the business group’s political action committee comes well ahead of the general election, which is still 16 months away.

Sandy K. Baruah, President and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber, stated: “The Chamber and businesses across the state are growing increasingly concerned about the inability of our political parties to find common ground and move Michigan forward.” He added that Mike Duggan has demonstrated his ability to unite people toward shared objectives throughout his career in both business and government. “Voters across Michigan are tired of the political infighting; they are clamoring for results-driven leadership, which is exactly what Mike has brought to every leadership position he’s held,” Baruah said.

This endorsement marks a significant move as it supports an independent candidate over traditional party candidates.
