The Detroit Lions announced on Mar. 18 that they have signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Damone Clark. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Clark joins the Lions after spending his first four seasons in the National Football League with the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys. He was originally drafted by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and has played in 55 games, starting 26 times, and recording a total of 190 tackles, six tackles for loss, four pass defenses, and two forced fumbles.

The signing comes as Ford Field continues to serve as home to the Detroit Lions. The stadium features a seven-story atrium and incorporates a historic warehouse from the 1920s, according to the official website. Ford Field can accommodate up to 65,000 spectators within its approximately 1.85 million square feet.

Each year nearly 1.5 million people attend events at Ford Field, which supports community engagement throughout Detroit according to the official website. The venue is also noted for providing optimal sight lines for fans during professional football games.

The development of Ford Field involved an investment of $500 million from both public sources such as the City of Detroit and private entities including Ford Motor Company, according to the official site.

With this latest roster move, Clark is expected to add depth to Detroit’s defense as preparations continue for upcoming seasons.
