The Detroit Lions announced on Mar. 18 that they have signed unrestricted free agent EDGE D.J. Wonnum to the team. The terms of the contract were not disclosed by the organization.
Wonnum, who is entering his seventh season in the National Football League, previously played for the Carolina Panthers for two seasons and spent four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings after being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of South Carolina. In his career so far, he has appeared in 86 games with 54 starts and has recorded a total of 244 tackles, including 137 solo tackles, along with 59 quarterback hits, 32 tackles for loss, and 30 sacks. He also has made contributions with pass defenses, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, and an interception.
