The Detroit Lions have signed Avonte Maddox, an unrestricted free agent and veteran cornerback. The terms of the contract were not released. Maddox, who previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles, has spent seven years with the team, starting in 2018.

During the 2024 season, Maddox played in all 17 regular-season games, starting in three of them. He recorded 19 tackles and five pass defenses. In the postseason, Maddox participated in four games, including Super Bowl LIX, where he made a notable pass defense.

Throughout his career, Maddox has played in 81 games, starting in 41. He accumulated 264 tackles, eight forced fumbles, and four interceptions. In addition to his regular season performance, he has played in 11 postseason games and has 40 tackles and five pass defenses in those contests.

Maddox entered the NFL with the Eagles as a fourth-round draft pick from Pittsburgh in 2018.
