Detroit Future City (DFC) will host its 2025 Annual Forum, known as the Future City Forum, on September 25 at The Icon in Detroit. The event is expected to bring together more than 300 stakeholders and leaders from across the city for a day focused on shaping Detroit’s future over the next decade.

The forum marks DFC’s 10th anniversary and aims to encourage collaboration among participants to develop new solutions for the city’s challenges. According to organizers, this year’s agenda includes a keynote address by Dr. Michael McAfee, CEO of Policy Link, who is recognized nationally for his work on equity and systems change.

Dr. McAfee will address issues related to building a just society and an equitable economy in Detroit, with particular attention to communities most affected by structural racism. Organizers say his participation is intended to inspire attendees to consider bold approaches for the city’s future.

In addition to the keynote speech, the event will feature a panel discussion with local changemakers, interactive breakout sessions, and opportunities for networking and dialogue among participants. Attendance at the forum is free.

“Dr. McAfee is a visionary leader whose work has shaped national conversations on equity, leadership, and systems change. At Future City Forum, he will challenge us to reimagine what’s possible for our communities—focusing on how to build a just society and an equitable economy, especially for those most impacted by structural racism,” according to event organizers.

The forum will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at The Icon located at 200 Walker Street in Detroit.
