Detroit City Football Club is set to host Hartford Athletic in an Eastern Conference match at Keyworth Stadium this Saturday. Detroit City FC, known as Le Rouge, is coming off a challenging 2-0 loss against Oakland Roots SC. Despite a strong defensive performance in the first half, Oakland scored in the 55th minute, and Detroit was unable to recover, conceding another goal late in the game.
The teams recently met in the USL Jägermeister Cup, where DCFC won after a penalty shootout. Matt Sheldon scored twice for Detroit City FC during that match, with Carlos Herrera making a crucial save in the fifth round of penalties. Michael Bryant secured the victory with his penalty kick.
Hartford Athletic has not played since their encounter with DCFC but managed to defeat Loudoun United 3-0 on June 20th. Mamadou Dieng scored first for Hartford, followed by two goals from Kyle Edwards.
This upcoming match marks the third meeting between these teams this season. Their first encounter ended in a goalless draw back in May. Although Detroit City held Hartford without any shots on target during their last meeting, they struggled offensively.
