Detroit City gradually increased pressure on their opponents as the game progressed.
The second period saw Detroit City take control. Seconds after play resumed, Megan Verant assisted Kayla Addison for the opening goal, marking Addison’s third of the season. Four minutes later, Verant scored herself—her fifth of the season—making her Detroit’s top scorer at that point. FC Berlin responded with a goal midway through the period, leaving Detroit with a one-goal lead at halftime.
In the third period, Detroit City capitalized on a power play opportunity after FC Berlin received a bench misconduct penalty. Mackenzie Reuber set up Ania Dow for Detroit’s third goal.
