Detroit City FC secured a 6-4 victory over FC Berlin in their MASL W home opener on January 5, 2026. The match, held against the visiting team from Kitchener, Ontario, began with FC Berlin setting the pace and holding a 9-4 shot advantage during the first period. Detroit City gradually increased pressure on their opponents as the game progressed.

The second period saw Detroit City take control. Seconds after play resumed, Megan Verant assisted Kayla Addison for the opening goal, marking Addison’s third of the season. Four minutes later, Verant scored herself—her fifth of the season—making her Detroit’s top scorer at that point. FC Berlin responded with a goal midway through the period, leaving Detroit with a one-goal lead at halftime.

In the third period, Detroit City capitalized on a power play opportunity after FC Berlin received a bench misconduct penalty. Mackenzie Reuber set up Ania Dow for Detroit’s third goal. Later in the period, Reuber scored again to extend the lead to 4-1, and Dow added another off an assist from Elisa Baeron for a 5-1 advantage entering the fourth period.

FC Berlin narrowed the gap early in the fourth period with their second goal and quickly added two more to make it 5-4 as the game entered its final five minutes. Zoe Greenhalge then scored her third goal of the season with just under three minutes left, securing a 6-4 win for Detroit City FC.
