Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, representing Michigan’s 12th district since 2019, shared her views on recent developments through a series of tweets. Her comments addressed a Supreme Court decision, praised individuals fighting against federal program cuts, and criticized the actions of a federal agency.

On June 18, 2025, Tlaib expressed her disapproval of a Supreme Court ruling regarding bodily autonomy. She stated that it was “another repressive decision” by the court, which “once again ruled against bodily autonomy,” allowing political interference in decisions traditionally made between doctors and patients. The Congresswoman emphasized the importance of gender-affirming health care for transgender individuals. “In another repressive decision, the Supreme Court once again ruled against bodily autonomy…”

Later that day, Tlaib commended Tiffany and her son for their resilience in opposing cuts to Job Corps implemented during Trump’s administration. She highlighted their courage as an example of how to protect vital programs and expressed pride in their efforts. “I am in awe of Tiffany and her son for their courage to fight back against Trump’s cuts to Job Corps…”

In another tweet on the same day, Tlaib criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), describing it as a “rogue agency.” She claimed that ICE targets various groups including immigrants and protestors and voiced her disapproval over the arrest of an individual named Brad. “ICE is a rogue agency and will target anyone who gets in their way: immigrants, protestors, elected officials…”

Tlaib has been serving in Congress since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976, Tlaib graduated from Wayne State University with a BA and earned a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
